Career Overview

Lynford Morton is passionate about propelling the growth of small businesses and enabling mission-based nonprofit organizations to achieve their ultimate purpose. His expertise is built on a public relations career that spans almost 20 years and excels in delivering results both strategically and tactically.

Most recently, at Raytheon Company he held a senior-level position where he led international communications and media relations for Raytheon’s $5 billion business, Network Centric Systems. In that role, he helped the business penetrate new international markets and communicate new capabilities to existing and new customers. He also led two major integrated communications campaigns that each earned best public relations program honors in the 73,000-person company.

Throughout his career, he has excelled at every major discipline in the public relations field. He led Community Relations for the United States Coast Guard, where he deployed the Coast Guard Band, Honor Guard, and used a NASCAR sponsorship to help raise exposure and galvanize public support for Coast Guard missions. He employed organizational communications to help unite employees during an organizational spin-off and instill pride in the new organization.

He used media relations to lead campaigns that garnered 60 percent of positive coverage in a field of five competitors. His writing has appeared in regularly scheduled advertorials in USA Today and lives on the shelves of countless government, nonprofit and commercial organizations.

Lynford has continued to hone his leadership and creative talents by founding PhotoTour DC, a business that teaches travelers how to take great pictures while touring Washington, DC's favorite locations. On walking tours, a professional photographer teaches the 10 Steps to Great Pictures while sharing brief commentary on each of the locations.
